[5:00pm] Special Topic: The What and the How of Improving Sleep (NEW)
- Description:
The "What" and the "How" of Improving Sleep
Studies suggest that most individuals in North America are sleep deprived. This has only gotten worse during the pandemic when most individuals report their sleep has been disturbed. There are well-documented effects of the impact of sleep on health, weight, well-being, mood, and quality of life. Clinical psychologist Dr. Dayna Lee-Baggley will provide an overview of evidence-based skills for improving sleep habits, which have been shown to improve quality and quantity of sleep. This introductory session will provide insights into the 8-week program being offered in the fall. This 8-week program will focus on "what" to do regarding sleep (e.g., sleep routines) but more important "how" to start and stick to sleep-promoting behaviours. That is, using the science of behaviour change, this program will also provide support for implementing and maintaining effective sleep habits.
