Finding hope and serenity in troubled times. Facilitated by Dr. Michael Lyon.
For many of us, food plays a significant role in our holiday celebrations. Whether you are hosting or attending a holiday event, this session will provide you with some delicious meal ideas and healthier takes on some traditional holiday favourites. During the group we will discuss various strategies for planning meals that you and your guests can both enjoy, and at the same time, benefit from when it comes to their nutritional content.
There are many misconceptions when it comes to obesity and weight management. In this session, Dr. Lyon will address some of this misleading information and provide a more comprehensive explanation of some of the physiological factors underlying this chronic disease, as well as evidence-based recommendations for treatment. Points of discussion will include: physiological drives of hunger, metabolic responses to weight loss, and reward systems in the brain that impact eating behaviours. Dietary and medical treatment interventions will also be discussed.
