[5:00pm] Getting Active 101 Session 1 (4-week module)
Description:

This is the first session of the 4-week Getting Active 101 module. Registering for Session 1 will secure you a spot for the rest of the module. 

This course is designed to provide patients with the knowledge and resources they need to help increase their physical activity. Participants will review and discuss common barriers to physical activity, set weekly goals around movement, and learn more about the health benefits and guidelines for specific types of exercise. Community resources (I.e. parks, trails, activity classes, community centers) will be discussed, as well as self-management programs for conditions that impede mobility.



[6:45pm] Busting Barriers 1 (4-week module)
Description:

This is the first session of the 4-week Busting Barriers module. Registering for Session 1 will secure you a spot for the rest of the module. 

This course focuses on troubleshooting common barriers to weight management. Each session will cover a different topic ranging from lack of motivation & difficulty with goal setting, to emotional eating, time management, and self-sabotage. Classes are designed to increase participants’ self-awareness regarding these issues, demonstrate their impact on behaviour change, and provide strategies/resources to help better manage these obstacles moving forward.


[6:45pm] Untangling Depression Session 1
Description:

This 8-week course is designed for individuals struggling with depression and/or low mood. Session topics include: risk factors for depression, medical & behavioral interventions for depression, managing altered thoughts, developing healthy ways to cope with difficult emotions, managing emotional eating, cultivating gratitude, managing stress, navigating grief and unforgiveness, and how to make space for joy in the midst of challenging circumstances.

The course format will include both educational and practical components designed to empower patients to better navigate the challenges of dealing with depression. Sessions will be facilitated by registered psychologist, Dr. Laura Walzak, and OMDI's medical director Dr. Michael Lyon.
