Description:

There are many misconceptions when it comes to obesity and weight management. In this session, Dr. Galindo will address some of this misleading information and provide a more comprehensive explanation of some of the physiological factors underlying this chronic disease, as well as evidence-based recommendations for treatment. Points of discussion will include: physiological drives of hunger, metabolic responses to weight loss, and reward systems in the brain that impact eating behaviours. Dietary and medical treatment interventions will also be discussed.

[5:00pm] Special Topics Group: Meal Planning - Healthy Holiday Baking
Description:

The holidays are often a time where we are exposed to an abundance of treats. Whether it be ones we bake up in our own kitchen, or gifts we receive from others, these treats (while delicious) can add up and cause issues for our health. In this session, we will explore some strategies for healthier baking that can improve the nutritional content of the treats you make this holiday season. We will also revisit the concept of mindful indulgence and how to enjoy your favourite seasonal baking in moderation.
