Developing your own meal planning tool kit can help you be more successful with your nutrition goals and make home cooking more enjoyable. In this session we will be discussing different cooking appliances and equipment that can help you with self-monitoring your food intake, save time in the kitchen, and produce yummy results that will keep you on track with your health goals.
Sometimes one of the biggest barriers we face in reaching our goals is ourselves. In this session, we will discuss self-sabotaging behaviours and explore how self-sabotaging thoughts can contribute to them. We will also brainstorm how to apply the principle of self-compassion to develop a more constructive counter dialogue to avoid these thinking traps and maintain momentum towards one's goals.
While the holidays are often times of great pleasure, they also present some unique challenges that can increase the likelihood of weight regain and/or relapse with unhealthy behaviours. Whether it be holiday work parties, family gatherings, special treats on display at grocery stores, or navigating other stressors associated with this time of year, it is helpful to have a game plan going into these high-risk situations. In this session, we will provide strategies that can help you stay on track with your health goals while enjoying this special season. We strongly recommend attending this group to set yourself up for success during the holidays.

This group will be facilitated by our internist, Dr. Sylvie Galindo. Metabolic syndrome is a cluster of conditions which include increased blood pressure, high blood sugar, excess body fat around the waist, and abnormal cholesterol levels. Obesity increases one's chance of having metabolic syndrome. In this session Dr. Galindo will explain how this condition can develop and discuss the risk factors that can contribute to its onset. She will also discuss how we screen for and diagnose this condition, the health risks associated with metabolic syndrome and why it is important to be proactive, as well as strategies for management.
