This group is devoted to discussing which commonly prescribed medications may have unwanted sexual side effects. We hope to empower you to discuss these side effects with your doctors and we will introduce you to some of the pharmacological and nonpharmacological strategies used to help address these sexual dysfunctions. The human sexual response cycle will be explored as a tool to help you optimize your sexual functioning and lead to more rewarding sexual experiences, regardless of which medications you are on. All genders welcome.
Speaker's Bio: Dr. Shauna Correia, B. Eng, MDCM, FRCPC, undertook her medical training at McGill University before completing residency in psychiatry at Dalhousie University. She now serves as clinical faculty with the University of British Columbia (UBC) and works as a psychiatrist and sexual medicine specialist. In her main role at the province's tertiary care clinic, the BC Centre for Sexual Medicine (BCCSM), in Vancouver she assesses and treats men, women, individuals and couples referred for a wide variety of sexual difficulties and concerns (including sexual dysfunctions and sexual pain syndromes). She is involved in several research projects involving the optimization of sexual functioning and the role of mindfulness. She is currently serving as the Sexuality Theme Lead in the UBC Faculty of Medicine undergraduate education program. Outside of work Shauna enjoys travelling, hiking, skiing, dancing and spending time with her dog Seiki, a certified therapy dog.

In this session, we will discuss meal planning strategies for picnics and potlucks, introduce ways to remake popular summer treats into healthier options, and demonstrate how to prepare a few recipes that are perfect for this time of year and will help you stick to your nutrition goals. Samples of a variety of dishes will be offered for tasting.

This group will be facilitated by our internist, Dr. Sylvie Galindo. Metabolic syndrome is a cluster of conditions which include increased blood pressure, high blood sugar, excess body fat around the waist, and abnormal cholesterol levels. Obesity increases one's chance of having metabolic syndrome. In this session Dr. Galindo will explain how this condition can develop and discuss the risk factors that can contribute to its onset. She will also discuss how we screen for and diagnose this condition, the health risks associated with metabolic syndrome and why it is important to be proactive, as well as strategies for management.

Presenter: Lynda Montis Lynda is an internationally recognized motivational speaker and entrepreneur. She draws on her formal training as a Registered Holistic Nutritionist with a specialty in weight management, her experience as a certified yoga, Pilates and barre instructor, as well as her personal experience losing and maintaining the loss of 42% of her total body weight. Lynda has struggled with weight issues since childhood and after 4 pregnancies decided to dedicate her time and education to the study of nutrition, obesity and movement. She opened a Yoga and Wellness Centre in Richmond Hill, Ontario and began teaching and leading numerous workshops in both movement and weight loss through lifestyle changes including presenting at the Annual Canadian Holistic Nutrition Conference. Lynda is passionate to share numerous tips on ways to increase motivation and willpower as well as how to make changes to destructive habits and personal food environment. She is also looking forward to sharing her current interest in the study of the longest lived cultures of the world and their lessons for us to age with mobility, vibrancy & joy.
