In this 60 min group medical visit, our registered dietitian, Veronica Kacinik, and our internal medicine specialist, Dr. Sylvie Galindo, will discuss various diets and the evidence to support their impact on sustainable weight loss and health outcomes. They will also answer participant questions regarding this topic. Participants will be prompted to fill out a form during registration so they can submit questions and desired discussion points for the physician in advance.
*Please note that these are smaller group medical visits and there are a limited number of spots. To keep things fair for other participants, please register only if you can commit to attending. If you register but neglect to show up, the $40 cancellation fee for a missed appointment will apply.
This is the first session of the 4-week Food Planning module. Registering for Session 1 will secure you a spot for the rest of the module. You only need to register for Session 2, 3, and/or 4 if you would like to submit a progress check to update us on your medical conditions.
Nutrition and food knowledge without application does not lead to behaviour change. Education through food planning and culinary skills has been shown to improve nutrition and overall diet quality. This course addresses food planning and cooking skills required for healthy eating to benefit chronic disease management. Learning how to better plan and cook more at home can contribute to better health, prevention of weight gain and sustainable weight loss.
This special topic will be facilitated by our internist, Dr. Jacek Cieslak, who has a specialty in nephrology. In the session we will explore the relationship between obesity, diabetes, hypertension and kidney disease. Key strategies and tips on how to protect your kidneys will be discussed. Bring your questions for this discussion!
