There are many misconceptions when it comes to obesity and weight management. In this session, Dr. Lyon will address some of this misleading information and provide a more comprehensive explanation of some of the physiological factors underlying this chronic disease, as well as evidence-based recommendations for treatment. Points of discussion will include: physiological drives of hunger, metabolic responses to weight loss, and reward systems in the brain that impact eating behaviours. Dietary and medical treatment interventions will also be discussed.
The session will be facilitated by our internist, Dr. Alison Walzak.
Chronic stress plays a part in everyone's lives, now seemingly more than ever. But how does it actually affect your health? We'll focus on some of the evidence behind the impacts of stress, and debunk some common myths.
In this 60 minute group medical visit, our internal medicine specialist, Dr. Michael Lyon, will discuss Bariatric Surgery and will answer participant questions regarding this topic. Participants will be prompted to fill out a form during registration so they can submit questions and desired discussion points for the physician in advance.
*Please note that this group medical visit is designed for patients assigned female at birth, as it addresses health topics specific to female physiology.
