This module will be facilitated by Certified Food Addiction Counselor, Sandra Elia who will deliver interactive presentations virtually from Ontario.
Food Addiction Recovery Program Overview
This program will give you the gift of Food Serenity. Food Serenity is returning to a place where food is consumed for nourishment, energy and caring for your body. No longer using food to achieve a feeling, (numbing out, love, stress relief, “getting high”) but rather using food for its rightful purpose.
This is the first session of the 4-week Food Planning module. Registering for Session 1 will secure you a spot for the rest of the module. You only need to register for Session 2, 3, and/or 4 if you would like to submit a progress check to update us on your medical conditions.
This module will cover information on food planning and cooking skills required for healthy eating for chronic disease management. Changes to food environment, eating behaviours, and deskilling have lead to poor diet quality: -Decreased health and well-being -Increased risk of chronic disease Evidence shows that improved food preparation skills improves overall diet quality. Nutrition and food knowledge without application does not lead to behaviour change. Education through food planning and culinary skills has been shown to improve nutrition. Therefore, as patients living with chronic disease learn to better plan and cook more at home, health often improves.
Forging new paths in life can be both rewarding and challenging. As we work to create a healthy lifestyle that embodies our values we inevitably tend to experience high and lows along the journey. This process is ongoing and necessitates resilience, innovation, skill power and resourcefulness.
Join our Medical Director, Dr. Michael Lyon, and our Manager of Program Development, Karen Tulloch as they pilot this brand new revised and enhanced version of our primary 8-week weight management program. This course is designed to equip you with a variety of tools to help you reach your health and weight management goals.
